Your Feet are Showing

Your feet are showing! You don’t have to go near the water either. Present day sandals and open toed shoes put your tootsies pretty much on display so you’d better make sure they’re presentable. Give yourself a pedicure every couple of weeks, using about the same technique that Chit Chat explained about your manicure. Don’t shape the toenails in a curve however. Cut them straight across and just short of the end of the toe. Work with the cuticle as you would around your fingernail. Remember don’t cut your cuticles because they protect the nail bed and cutting them can lead to infection or nail damage. Just apply polish as you wish. You can also learn a lot by getting a professional pedicure. Your feet will feel better for this extra attention and so will you next time your shoe salesman helps you try on a new pair of shoes.

Another Tip About Your Nails

Hi, it’s me again with another Chit Chat tip about your manicure. She says you can learn a lot if it’s possible to have a professional manicuring job done ever so often. Most of us can do a pretty good job but an occasional visit to the professional manicurist for shaping of the nails and cuticle is important. It’s much easier to keep your hands looking nice with your home treatments after the manicurist gives you a foundation on which to work. You can improve your nails appearance by buffing away any bumps with a soft buffer. You should be careful to rub softly so as not harm your nails. Next use a small amount of cuticle oil and massage it into the cuticle before pushing back the cuticle with a cotton wrapped orangewood stick. It would be better to use a pair of cuticle nippers to trim away any hangnails. I’ve been doing this anyhow so I agree with Chit Chat. My friend says Chit Chat promised to give her more tips on how to properly apply your nail polish to keep it from chipping.

Chit Chat's Ritual of the Bath

Now this tip is great for all you gals whether married or not. Did you know that one of the best beauty suggestions to make is a ritual of the bath! Chit Chat says for you to give it the time it should have to get in its relaxing effect. You don’t have to splurge but you can accumulate a little at a time a variety of bath salts, perfumed soaps, lotions and so forth. These will add a lot to your enjoyment and relaxation and you can experiment with different types of suds and perfumes. The leisurely, well scented bath can prepare you for a quiet evening at home or an important dinner date. Wow, I’ve been doing this but not the way Chit Chat suggests. I’ve always been in a hurry with all the work I have to do when I get home from work. I’ll let you know how this turns out. Bye for now

Hands Up "Reach for the Ceiling"

Hi again, My friend tells me that her friend knows Chit Chat and that she is slim with a good figure and has a steady job standing on her feet all day. She says one of her secrets was “Hands up! Reach for the ceiling!” If you want to hold yourself up and develop a better figure just reach for the ceiling. So spread your feet apart and bend to the right and down as far as you can, pointing both hands at your right foot. Straighten up and repeat the operation but toward the left foot. From five to ten of these bends to each side will do wonders for your figure if you do them everyday. Chit Chat says it works better if you do them when you first get out of bed in the morning. I think she assumes everyone works during the day. I’m on my first week and I believe I have a little more spunk. I’ll let you know if this works for me. Bye for now.

A Good Time for a Manicure

Well, I finally got a tip to help me with my nails. “After every shampoo your nails you should do.” Pretty corny poetry Chit Chat! She says the best time to give yourself a manicure is right after you’ve shampooed your hair. At this time the cuticle is soft and easy to work with and this seems to be a good time filler while your hair is drying. Chit Chat assumes you shampoo your hair at home like all we working gals do. Now don’t try to file and shape the nails immediately because they will be too soft. Just wait ‘til they dry a little and be sure to use an emery board instead of a metal file. Chit Chat says if your nails have a tendency to split, draw the board across the nail from corner to center only and not back and forth. Sounds credible to me. Hope Chit Chat lets me know what I can do to keep my polish from peeling. I’ll keep you posted.

Hand Treatment with Gloves

My friend reminded me that Chit Chat said that a good treatment for you gals hands was to put on gloves. My goodness, we working gals can’t wear gloves during the day. Maybe you stay at home Moms can but I have to work and make a living for my family. She says to give your hands a good coating of good hand cream before “donning your mittens.” Try this for a week or two, then see for yourself how much the treatment does to offset the necessary frequent contact with hot water, cleansers and shampoo you come in contact with during the day. You know since I work and have to take care of the house work in the evenings I just did my treatment when I did the dusting and vacuuming. You know I do see a difference. Funny I never thought about this before I learned it from Chit Chat. I still think Chit Chat has some more tricks up her sleeves.

Chit Chat's Sore Aching Feet

Hi Friends, Just another tip from Chit Chat. I believe she misunderstood ‘cause she sent me a message about my feet instead of my finger nails. Oh well, here goes. She says that most of her working friends suffer from pain with their sore and aching feet. You know your whole posture and facial expression takes a beating along with your attitude toward life because of sore feet. Chit Chat reminded me to treat any corns, calluses and bunions immediately but for goodness sake don’t let them get out of hand before going to a foot specialist. Just massage your feet with foot cream, digging real deep into the muscles of the arch and the ball of the foot. And also exercise your feet daily by standing barefoot and rising to tip toe position several times. Most of all you should wear comfortable shoes if you stand on your feet during your workday. I’ll be back with some more tips when I hear from Chit Chat.
